Open and convert HEIC photos online

iPhones save photos as HEIC to roughly halve the file size. Windows, older software and plenty of websites still refuse them. PSCraft opens HEIC directly and turns it into a format that works everywhere.

HEIC to JPG in four steps

  1. Open the editor.
  2. Drag the .heic file onto the page.
  3. Choose File › Export › Export As.
  4. Pick JPEG, set the quality and export. The JPG lands in your downloads folder.

Choose PNG instead when you need lossless quality, or WebP for a smaller file on a website.

Why convert on your own machine

Photos carry more than pixels: where they were taken, when, and who is in them. Most online converters work by uploading your picture to their server. PSCraft decodes the file inside your browser, so the photo stays where it is.

Edit while it's open

Since the photo is already in an editor, you can fix it before exporting:

What to know about HEIC support

  • Read only. Opening works; saving as HEIC doesn't.
  • Orientation and colour are respected. Rotation stored in the file is applied, and the embedded colour profile is used.
  • 10-bit photos keep their depth. They open as 16-bit documents, so there's room for adjustments before you export.

Converting a whole camera roll

PSCraft is an editor and handles one photo at a time. If you'd rather not deal with HEIC at all, change it at the source: on the iPhone, go to Settings › Camera › Formats and choose Most Compatible, and new photos are saved as JPEG.

Common questions

Can I save a photo back to HEIC?
No. PSCraft reads HEIC but does not write it. Export to JPEG, PNG, WebP or TIFF instead.
Does converting to JPG lose quality?
A little, as with any JPEG save. Choose a high quality setting to keep the loss invisible, or export PNG if you need it lossless.
